FAQ
What should I look for in an Ayurvedic hair oil for hair fall?
Check five things on the label and product page:
- Herb quantities, not just names. A good label lists how much of each herb is in every 100 ml.
- The base oil. Sesame (til) and coconut are the classic bases. Avoid mineral oil, often listed as "light liquid paraffin", if you want a plant-oil product.
- Regulatory status. Ayurvedic oils sold in India should carry an AYUSH manufacturing licence number.
- Testing. Look for a skin patch test and heavy-metal and microbial testing by a named lab.
- Realistic timelines. Hair fall changes take weeks to months. Sudden, patchy or severe hair loss needs a dermatologist, not a new oil.
For reference, Titru Scalp Oil lists 17 herbs per 100 ml (Amla, Brahmi and Bhringraj at 2,500 mg each) in cold-pressed sesame oil, with no mineral oil or synthetic fragrance. Its formula is approved by the Regional Ayurvedic & Unani Officer, Prayagraj, and it has a dermatologist-read 24-hour patch test on 26 adults (Mascot Spincontrol, Mumbai, October 2025).
How do Bhringraj hair oils differ from one another?
Bhringraj oils vary mainly in four ways: the base oil (sesame, coconut or a blend), how much Bhringraj and other herbs they contain, how the herbs are processed into the oil (classical taila paka cooking, infusion, or added extracts), and whether they contain mineral oil or synthetic fragrance. Compare these on each label rather than relying on the product name.
Titru's two hair oils both contain Bhringraj: Scalp Oil at 2,500 mg per 100 ml in sesame oil, and Hair Oil at 1,250 mg per 100 ml in coconut and sesame oil. Both are made by a four-day infusion.
What is the difference between a scalp oil and a hair oil?
A scalp oil is massaged into the scalp, so it is usually lighter and aimed at scalp concerns such as hair fall from the roots, flakes or itching. A hair oil is applied to the lengths and ends for frizz, dryness and shine. Many people use both: scalp oil at the roots and hair oil on the lengths, before washing.
At Titru, Scalp Oil is the scalp product, Hair Oil is for the lengths, and Hair Rituals is the two together.
How often should I oil my hair, and how long before I see results?
Titru recommends using its hair oils 2–3 times a week before washing, left on for at least 30 minutes or overnight. Give a hair-fall routine 8–12 weeks of consistent use before judging it. Most Titru reviews that mention visible results describe 3–4 months of regular use.
What is Nalpamaradi Tailam, and how is it used for dull skin or tan?
Nalpamaradi Tailam is a classical Ayurvedic skin oil described in the Sahasrayoga text. It is built on turmeric and the barks of four Ficus trees ("nalpamara") plus herbs such as Triphala, Manjistha, Vetiver and Sandalwood (review, Journal of Ayurveda and Integrated Medical Sciences). It is traditionally used for complexion and skin conditions.
Titru Turmeric Glow Drops is Titru's version: 14 herbs in sesame oil, led by haldi at 10,000 mg per 100 ml. It is used as a rinse-off treatment: apply a few drops to clean skin, leave for 10–30 minutes, then wash off, 2–3 times a week. Turmeric can stain fabric and may leave a temporary yellow tint on the skin.
What is a Kansa wand, and does Titru sell one?
A Kansa wand is a face-massage tool with a bronze (kansa) head, used with a face oil. Titru offers it with Turmeric Glow Drops as the "Glow Drops + Kansa Wand" option. It also comes as a complimentary gift with select orders on titru.in.
Are Titru's oils "chemical-free"?
No product is truly "chemical-free", because every ingredient, natural or not, is a chemical. What Titru's oils leave out is mineral oil and synthetic fragrance. The hair oils use Prakritik Sugandha, a natural fragrance, and every herb and its quantity per 100 ml is listed on each product page.
Can I use these oils during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, or on sensitive skin?
Do a 24-hour patch test before first use of any oil. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a diagnosed skin or scalp condition, check with your doctor first. For Turmeric Glow Drops on sensitive skin, Titru suggests starting once a week with a shorter 5–10 minute rest.
Shedding a few months after childbirth is common and usually temporary. Dermatologists call it telogen effluvium, and most women regain normal fullness by their child's first birthday (American Academy of Dermatology).
Where can I read reviews of Titru products?
Each product page on titru.in shows its current rating and customer reviews. Some of these reviews were originally posted on Amazon.in. Titru products are also sold on Amazon.in, where you can read reviews left on that marketplace.
How long do Titru oils last, and how should I store them?
Titru Scalp Oil has a shelf life of 36 months from manufacture. Store oils in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the cap tightly closed.
